That’s it! That’s all you need to get started. And, really, you don’t need more than this even as you progress.

The one thing you might want to level-up and personalize is the journal you use. You’ll get a feel for the sizes you like, paper feel, the page count, etc.

I have a couple of favorites.

This one is a great size for writing and on-the-go. And I love the feel of my pen on the paper and how the paper turns.

This one’s also wonderful if you love a journal that can hold a LOT of thoughts, feelings, and doodles!

How to Use These 31 Daily Doodle Prompts

The idea is that you take the daily prompt and doodle it!

It can be the ONLY thing you journal that day

Or it can be a decoration for that day’s writing

And you could even make it a “challenge” to show up and do that day’s doodle.

Or MAYBE you start with a doodle on day one, then on day two you doodle day one AND day two, then on day three you doodle days one, two, and three…and so on.

Do what works for you and your journaling practice and, above all, have FUN with it!

Creative Ways to Use Your Holiday Doodles

Be creative with the ways you use your holiday doodles! Yes, they’re fun additions to a journal page, but you can also brighten up notecards, sticky notes, gift tags, and more.

You can also be creative in HOW you doodle.

It’s a great way to bust boredom when you’re waiting around. And if you slow down a little and breathe easily, it’s quite meditative.

You could try:

  • Turning doodles into gift tags by drawing tiny icons on cardstock and punching a hole in the corner
  • Creating handmade holiday cards
  • Making your own wrapping paper by doodling cute objects, scenes, and repeating patterns on kraft paper
  • Decorating envelopes
  • Adding doodles to planner pages – to-do lists, habit trackers, and calendars
  • Doodle on labels for storage bins, jars, or pantry items
  • Create a vision board with doodles representing your goals or moods

Once you get some practice, you’ll find yourself doodling EVERYWHERE!
